Hello peptido

Not very current figures I`m afraid, so I`m posting this as a comment,
but maybe you can make a guestimate of current numbers.

Thursday, February 14, 2002
"Thomas Weisel Partners analyst David Readerman said sales of Visual
Studio .NET in this quarter could hit $200 million, up from his
earlier estimate of $150 million"

"Microsoft Industry Analyst Summit 2003"

"Q: Have sales of Visual Studio .NET been slower than expected?

A: When you factor out the economic downturn, no. As evidenced by
today`s announcements, customers and partners are continuing to reap
the benefits of Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework. Customers
are successfully deploying their initial projects with Visual Studio
.NET and the .NET Framework and planning for the future.

Q: How many units have you shipped of Visual Studio .NET?

A: It`s interesting to note that the primary mechanism developers
obtain Visual Studio .NET is through MSDN, so it`s a bit different
than simply saying the number of XBoxes sold. That said, in the past
year we have distributed over 2.5 million copies of Visual Studio .NET
and the .NET Framework."

Interesting note, here in Canada, Microsoft has been giving these away everywhere.
There was a two page survey on their site last week, and everyone who
filled it out got free copy. So "distributed" numbers may be quite
different from actual "sales".
