I'm not sure you're going to conveniently find what you're seeking
online. There is a tremendous amount of printed material and Reference
Books on this subject, but just scattered bits and pieces (so far)
online. For starters, check out libraries, searching their catalogs
using the Library of Congress subject heading:
Great Britain - Army - Uniforms
If you do want to search online, use www.google.com, with the
following terms (including punctuation):
"world war I" +reenacting
Though only a handful of sites come up, one excellent place to browse
is:
World War I Reenactors Web Ring
http://www.reenactor.net/WW1/ww1reenact_ring.html
as well as:
Peter's Great War Reenacting Page
http://reenact.homestead.com/
and the intriguing US based
17th Lancers
http://www.geocities.com/british17thlancers/frogandpeach.html
These reenactors would be a good resource for getting specifics about
uniforms.
In your searching you should also run across a number of citations to
relevant books. The most likely candidates are listed at:
Books on World War I Uniforms:
http://www.dropbears.com/b/broughsbooks/military/ww1_uniforms.htm
The British Army 1914-18
(Men at Arms Series 81)
by Robert Marrion, Don Fosten
World War One : British Army (Brassey's History of Uniforms Series)
by Stephen B. Bull, Tim Newark (Editor)
Hardcover: 144 pages
Brasseys, Inc.; ISBN: 1857532708; (April 1, 1999)
http://www.brasseysinc.com/Uniforms.htm
World War 1 Infantry : In Colour Photographs (Europa Militaria, 3)
by Laurent Mirouze, Laurant Mirouze
(Paperback - October 1999)
The Brassey's title looks like a keeper! A search of Amazon.com turned
up a copy for about US$33.
Good luck and here's to hoping another Google Answers Researcher can
come up with a cogent online resource.
