With both factory air conditioning and an automatic transmission, the
official used car market guide lists the wholesale value for this car
in "rough" condition at $8000. Due to the title, any car dealer will
classify this car as "rough" (or even less than rough) no matter how
nice appears. In fact, you probably need to deduct another $1000 in
order to have a better wholesale value estimate.
If the car does not have an automatic transmission, deduct another
$1000. If no factory AC, deduct yet another $500 to $600.
The above calculations give your wholesale value estimate. This
wholesale value estimate is the most real money you might expect to
get for a trade-in of the subject vehicle. In real money, you would
probably be offered less. Of course, car dealers have a way of
disguising the true trade-in value that they are offering you. There
is no website available to the general public with the information
that I have given.
In my experience, most private party sellers that are interested in
selling their vehicles tend to have an asking price of $1500 over the
wholesale value estimate. Then you may expect to need to discount from
your asking price in order to close the deal with your buyer.
The values that I have quoted are for the state of Georgia. Prices may
differ in other parts of the country. |
