I did not find anything directly related to the key words in your
question.

- Are you sure of the spelling of the name "Denell"?
- Is the name inscribed on an actual watch or clock? Can you describe
it?
- Where did you obtain this information from?

In general, online information about 18th century Irish horologists*
is scarce. For historical information about watchmakers in the United
Kingdom, you may want to contact The British Horological Institute, an
association of watch and clock makers founded in London in 1858:

The British Horological Institute
Home Page
http://www.bhi.co.uk/index.html

BHI has a physical library and museum that offers research services:

The British Horological Institute
Library, Museum, and Research Facilities
http://www.bhi.co.uk/museum.htm

"The library at present contains nearly 5000 volumes in a variety of
Languages, and is widely acknowledged to be one of the best sources of
horological information in the world. As a member, you can use the
library without charge. If you cannot visit in person, the librarian
can often carry out the research on your behalf, for a small fee."

For a fee (credit cards accepted), non-BHI members can enter an online
research request:

British Horological Institute
On-line Services Request
https://secure.magic-moments.com/bhi/service.html

"Library research for non-members of the Institute will be charged at
the rate of £10 per enquiry and it will be dealt with only if it is
accompanied by a credit card number and expiry date. Enquiries
involving longer library research will be charged accordingly and
notified to you before being processed."

The following book also sounds promising:

"Watch and Clockmakers in Ireland to 1900"
William Galland Stuart, David Boles (Editors)
- Soft cover, (C)2000
- 124 pages, illustrated
- 2,400 watchmakers listed with biographies

It's not available on Amazon.Com, but this British bookseller may
carry it:

direction.

len02,

Thanks for replying.

So, the inscription is on an actual watch? If so, can you describe the
watch itself:

- Diameter and thickness in inches
- Finish (gold, silver, etc.)
- Number and style of any adjustment knobs (ridged, checked, smooth,
etc.)
- Is the inscription on the back of the watch, or inside of a front or
back cover?
- Besides numbers, are there any other letters or words on the watch
dial?

And so on.

Thanks,
huntsman
