What is the difference in quality and value between Select Comfort's
SLEEP NUMBER beds (3000, 4000, 5000, 7000, and 9000) that are sold
online and at Select Comfort stores and the Select Comfort PERSONAL
PREFERENCE beds (I, II, III, IV, V) that are being sold through Sleep

Echa921,

The Sleep Number beds vary in quality and price. Let me outline the
differences for you.

http://www.selectcomfort.com/beds/bed_comparison.cfm?cmref=ln
This is a comparison chart from the 3000 model to the 9000 model. Some
of the major differences are the depth of the mattress, quality of the
pillow top, wireless or wired remotes, and how quiet the pump is.
The 5000 is the most popular model, and I can see why, it has a lot of
the more luxurious features of the higher models, such as the wireless
remotes, the virtually silent pump, and anti-microbial foam cushion.
It also is only an $8.00 a month price jump from the 3000, ($28.00 a
month) but with many more features than the 3000 model. ($21.00 a
month) However, the next model up, the 7000 is starting at $63.00 a
month. You can price all the features and mattress sizes here to find
out just how much the entire bed to your specifications would cost you
Also, the 5000 model has the most mattress sizes available at nine
choices.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can also get all of these models in the Precision Comfort
Adjustable Foundation.

?Take the personalized comfort of your Sleep Number® bed to the
ultimate level with the new Precision Comfort® Adjustable Foundation.
The Precision Comfort® Foundation allows you to adjust your bed's
position at either the head or the foot with the simple touch of a
button. Massage and wave motion features help soothe tired muscles and
let you relax. The Precision Comfort® Adjustable Foundation is a great
way to pamper yourself at the end of the day.?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as the Personal Preference model, that model is especially for
the Sleep Train stores. It is the same as the 3000, 4000, 5000, 7000,
and 9000 models, except it?s numbered in roman numerals.

?Sleep Train will offer a variety of Sleep Number bed models from the
Personal Preference? Collection, specifically designed for Select
Comfort's retail partners. Sleep Train's customers will be able to
compare the dual-adjustability and personalized comfort of the Sleep
Number bed with traditional innerspring mattresses.?

So, there you go. I hope this helps you choose the bed that?s best for you.

Request for Answer Clarification by echa921-ga on 13 May 2004 15:34 PDT
Hi Nenna-ga,

Thanks for the research. It appears I need to clarify my request. I
actually was able to come across this exact information in my own
quick Google search. What I was really hoping to learn and read are
some third party reviews of the Select Comfort Sleep Number beds vs.
Select Comfort Personal Preference beds. I saw this press release
already, but because it comes directly from Select Comfort, I was wary
of its credibility. Furthermore, I am particularly interested in the
VALUE of these beds: what are the current prices of each of the bed
models and what is the BEST way to purchase them? For example, if the
Sleep number beds are exactly the same as the Personal Preference
beds, then is it cheaper to buy online or visit a Sleep Train store?

Thank you for your help!

Echa921,

I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. Let me see if I can explain this
better. The personal preference line is exactly the same model as the
Sleep Number beds, they are just a different name of them that only
the Sleep Train stores carry. The prices on the beds depend on the
features you chooose with each bed and size, it's all optional, there
is no set price. I referenced that in this page where it has you
choose options to price the different models.
http://www.selectcomfort.com/bedconfigurator/sn9000_priceb.cfm?proc=1

Here are some reviews on the Select Comfort line.

And the google search for ratings pages
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=review%20sleep%20number%20beds&btnG=Google+Search

I reccomend calling a store in your area, and then calling the online
websites number. I'm sure which ever is cheaper for you will be price
matched by either place, because they are the same company, so you can
order which ever way is convenient for you, store or online.

How you can contact the website and find the store nearest you.

Also, so that you get all the information you would like in a multi
part question, you may want to reference the pricing guidelines

I hope this explains the details you mentioned in your clarification
better to you. I'm glad I could clear things up hopefully.

Have a great day/night

I think it should be a requirement to have third party information
included in every answer. This is the only way to ensure that the
information provided is unbiased.
