Question ID: 346111
Find a product that will extract the URLs in my IE browswer's history
file. I want URLs I visited in the last 4 weeks of my browsing to be
captured in either a text file or an HTML file. (Output format isn't
very important -- just so it's been saved and I can revisis those
pages.)

Context: The bookmarks I've added in the last 4 weeks have been
corrupted. I want to use my browser history to eventually recover
those lost resources.

Since there are probably several tools that would suffic, create a
short-list of the tools that seem the best to you.

Thanks. Feel free to clarify.

Hi donphiltrodt!!

I think that I found qhat are you looking for!!

The recommended software to do what you want is IEHistoryView v1.20:
"This utility reads all information from the history file on your
computer, and displays the list of all URLs that you have visited in
the last few days. It also allows you to select one or more URL
addresses, and then remove them from the history file or save them
into text, HTML or XML file. In addition, you are allowed to view the
visited URL list of other user profiles on your computer, and even
access the visited URL list on a remote computer, as long as you have
permission to access the history folder."
http://freehost14.websamba.com/nirsoft/utils/iehv.html

This is a freeware and allows you to manage the history of visited
websites in IE. You can also export all or selected items to HTML
reports, view detailed properties for selected entries, sort them and
more. To download it use the following link:

Other options are:

"Index (History) Reader for Internet Explorer ® 4, 5 or 6": (21-day
evaluation - $37)
"History Reader reads all information in the complete history database
and presents you a list, either in chronological or alphabetical
order. Furthermore, you can open any URL in Internet Explorer ®, add
URLs to Favorites, copy URLs, print out or save the listing or
selected ranges as text file."

Download it from:

NetAnalysis 1.34: ($100)

"Pasco v1.0": (Free)
http://www.foundstone.com/index.htm?subnav=resources/navigation.htm&subcontent=/resources/proddesc/pasco.htm

"PurgeIE":($19.95)
This software was designed for cleaning up IE, but it also lets you
view activity (and some even after they use IE's purge history methods)

"Internet History Viewer": ($50)

------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that this helps you. Feel free to request for any clarification needed.

Best regards.

Don...

I hope someone else has better luck. I couldn't find
any such programs, though I found evidence of several
programmers trying to find help with a way to do it.
It seems this is a Microsoft feature by design, in that
the URLs are not directly connected with the browser
history folders, and there is a separate folder for
each URL.
