It seems that you want to deal with one paricular "preferential
treatment" issue.  Preferential treatment happens everywhere: Harvard
grads have a higher propensity to hire Ivy Leaguers than non-Harvard
grads, for example.

Which preferential treatment issue are you trying to research?
