Question ID: 346330
Reposting a question that has not yet been answered- I am working on a
project to collect the signature of every boxer Muhammad Ali ever
fought professionally- Of the 50 fighters Ali faced we now have 49
signatures-The only fighter whose autograph we are missing is "Sweet"
Jim Robinson- Robinson as stated earlier was a very obscure boxer
whose home base was Miami and almost all his fights were there- New
information received via a Sports Illustrated article in 1980
indicates that Robinson was arrested for armed robbery in Miami, that
he was collecting veterans benefits, and that he frequented the Clyde
Killens Pool Hall in the greater Miami area- The author of this
article was Michael Brennan-Can anyone help me locate Mr Robinson, a
documented "Sweet" Jim Robinson autograph or a family member who could
assist us in this search??- Will gladly pay a handsome bonus to anyone
who can help finally find "Sweet" Jim!!!

Hello there, flash-ga,

I just wanted to let you know that, everytime you've posted this
question, I've had a look to see if I can locate your man. At each
posting, I've had access to new search resources, so my hopes were
high. But thus far...nothing.

I'll look again, with yet additional resources at my disposal, to see
what comes up. Don't hold your breath on this, but I just wanted to
let you know you weren't being ignored.

P.S. What's your theory on "Sweet Jim Robinson" vs "Slim Jim
Robinson" -- two different boxwers (Slim went on to become a trainer,
as well) or one and the same man?

It's a pretty funny story I personnally am a pretty big Boxing Fan. So
obviously when I saw this question I got really into it. I ask around
a few
friends (*fellow loving boxers) to see what they could come up with. Now even
after the expiring date on this little question I was really annoyed by the fact
I couldn't find it so...

I went totally crazy and rounded up every press I could find, and talk to every
single sport reporters they got to finally find this !

Ronald Alpert
professional investigator,
release to the press on the January 18 2004 that he had found "Sweet"
Jim Robinson. Furthermore of cracking probably one of the biggest
mysteries in
Boxing, Ronald Alpert recovered rare and unique Sweet Jim memorabilia
including the most elusive of all authorized and documented signatures
of Muhammad Ali's opponents. Now I think this is probably what you are
looking for and for quite some time. I'm hoping this will solve your
question.
Believe me this toke a while hopefully you will be able to contact this man and
get the information. Now I do have is phone number but I don't know if
i'm allowed to release it on this web site. If not I will leave you a
email of somekind that we can continue this.

Have a good day !

Icy Frosty- Happy Wednesday afternoon- Thanks so much for the timely
follow up- Needless to say I certainly appreciate your assitance in
our efforts to locate Jim Robinson- Unfotunately, I am quite aware of
Ron Alpert and his claim to have located a Jim Robinson autograph- In
my humble opinion, this "gentleman" is at best a very unscrupulous
manipulater and at worst a total fraud- In my conversations with him
he has indicated that he wants more than $20,000.00 for this
signature!!!!- Total insanity to say the least- Be that as it may,
thanks again for the lead- Best wishes for a productive and stress
free day- Flash
