Hi, and thanks for the question
What you're talking about is often called "subliminal learning". And
recent scientific work suggests there -might- be something in it.
Back in 2001, New Scientist reported research from Boston University
by Takeo Watanabe
"Subliminal study shows subconscious learning is possible"
http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99991476
They said:
"The finding challenges the idea that attention is an essential
element of the learning process. "Attention can make learning more
efficient," says Watanabe, "but it's not necessary."
"Watanabe dismisses gimmicks such as cassettes that purport to teach
you while you sleep. But he speculates that listening to a foreign
language being spoken at low volume - loud enough that your brain can
perceive it but not so loud that you are aware - could improve a
person's pronunciation and listening skills. "It could be useful," he
says.

Notwithstanding the fact that scientists think it is a borderline
possibility, there are thousands of people selling "subliminal
learning" packages, on cassette, CD, DVD and CD ROM . They all seem to
suggest they work on the principles outlined in the article at :
Sublininal Learning
http://www.subliminal-power.com/mind/subliminal_learning.htm
It says:
"Subliminal Messages are played again and again; these are affirmative
and positive in nature and affect your subconscious mind. For example,
a subliminal tape contains thousands of messages that are played by
the computer program at some rate. The subliminal messages are
effective as they directly affect the subconscious mind and understood
only by the subconscious, which learns and uses them to help focus and
guide your conscious thought and actions.
"Your brain has two parts, left brain and right brain. As most of you
are aware that your right hand is controlled by the left brain and
left hand is controlled by right brain. The audio tapes are programmed
in such a manner that two different voices are arranged in left and
right channel and prove most effective when used as directed.
"The other way of subliminal learning is achieved by some especially
created computer programs that flash the subliminal messages in front
of you at high speed. You are not able to read and understand them
easily but they affect your subconscious mind directly. Your
subconscious mind understands it. These messages keep popping out on
your computer screen at random and do not disturb you at all. When you
are working on the computer or playing games or surfing the Internet,
these subliminal messages keep flashing in between on the screen.

As I said, there are many vendors selling subliminal learning packages
and, while I dount you'll find anything as fast as the one used in the
Matrix, you may find something you'd like to try. I used one a few
years ago to try to quit smoking. It didn't quite work, but I did find
that the instructions that were supposedly subliminal kept coming into
my mind, so something was certainly happening.

learning....a related area that has a lot of proponents.
An article from the Encyclopedia of Educational Technology outlines
