Question ID: 347123
I have 2 pc's, one old, one new, both running Windows XP. I would like
to connect them to each other using a parralel cable on LPT1 (don;t
ask why, and don't suggest other cables, that is what I have).

I need step by step instructions WHICH WORK - unlike those on the net
by cellarstoneindia.com - which I have not managed to work. I nead
CLEAR instructions for configuring EACH of the computers

Hi!!

The instructions on cellarstoneindia.com are well, and if they don't
work in your computer you may have to perform some previous tasks.
Please follow ALL the following steps, specially the firsts (they are
after different links):

The "Configure a Direct Cable Connection with Windows XP Home Edition"
guide includes the following topics:
Part 1. Introduction
Part 2. Connecting the Cables
Part 3. Setting the Computer Names and Workgroups
Part 4. Sharing Resources
Part 5. Configuring the Direct Cable Connection
Part 6. Configuring TCP/IP
Part 7. Using NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS-Compatible Transport Protocol
Part 8. Connecting the Computers
