I have a Victorian Clock and the hands were inadvertently wound back
when trying to account for British Summertime change. Further
tinkering resulted in the chimes not being synchronised with the
real time. On the hour the chimes are always two hours behind actual
time. Is there a simple way to sort this out, please

Could it be a simple case of re-aligning the hands of the clock?
If the Clock chimes 10 when the hour hand is pointed at the 12 then it
may be that the hour hand has been rotated 60 degrees clockwise of
where it should be.
I would suggest that this might be able to be fixed by either removing
the hands from the clock face and then re-attaching them at their
correct positions or (if you are unsure of how to do this) contacting
your local jeweller/clockmaker.

I have an old clock that has been in my family for more than one
hundred years. Several times, when the clock has been moved from place
to place, the chimes have become unsynchronized with the time.
Whenever this has happened, I have unseated the hour hand by lifting
it gently upwards on the tube around which it rotates, and then
pressed it back down in a position that indicates the time that the
chimes "think" is correct. If you move the minute hand also, remember
that the minute hand of most old clocks should never be moved
counterclockwise.

If this information suffices to answer your question, I'll be pleased
to repost it in the "Answer" section.

Had this happen many times...
Simply wind the clock forward 10 hours without waiting for it to
strike at any hour.

Simply wind the clock forward 10 hours without waiting for it to
strike at any hour. The clock will then be in sync.
