If the high pressure gas line was 1000 miles long, and no roads trails
or paths were alowed to cross it except by bridge, a hundred briges
would be needed and it would divide the land much as interstate
highways divide. I don't see that happening, so my guess is extra
precutions are taken. The gas line that crosses Old lake Wilson road
at I4, Southwest of Orlando, Florida leaked in 1999, 2000 and 2001,
but appaently has been repaired as we have not smelled it in 2003 and
2004. How high is the pressure? Neil

Thanks for the information. I'm a student doing a project in a rural
Texas county where they have a ton of gas wells and pipelines. We are
looking at perhaps introducing trails along the access roads to
connect other parts of trail and park land. I'm trying to find out if
there are any legal obstacles or real dangers to doing this. In some
respects it might be safer because people might be able to better
recognize when there are problems. I'm exactly sure how high the
pressure is though.
