I use a palm M515, yahoo intellisyn and palm desktop software daily to
sync my calendar, to do list, address book, etc. Recently nothing has
been able to sync. When I call Palm customer support, they say to call
Yahoo and when I call Yahoo, they say to call Palm. Help. I really
need a customer support person or third party conduit to walk me
through and re-configure everything. Help pages on Palm, Yahoo and
Intellisync and not helping.

Did you install new software prior to this problem occurring?

I'm going to walk you through the standard steps to rectify this sort
of syncing problem. First of all, please go to
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/intsync/intsync-01.html and follow the
instructions to back up your existing stuff (i.e. AddressBook, ToDo
List, and Memopad.)

It does not sync at work or home. I didnt add any new software. I did
try the URL help before and still hitting a road block.

1) All right, after you've backed up your Datebook, AddressBook,
MemoPad, ToDoList, (click on each of them in left hand side of the
PalmDesktop software, and select 'export'), exit Hotsync Manager by
moving your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen, and
right-click on the small Hotsync icon. Click 'exit'.

2) Uninstall Intellisync by going to start>control panel>add or remove
programs and try to find the Intellisync program. Then remove it.

3) Reinstate Hotsync Manager. Go to start>programs>palm desktop (or
palm)>Hotsync Manager.

4) Put your Palm in the cradle and Hotsync. Does it work? Try creating
new entries in your Palm and see if it's reflected in the Palm
Desktop.

If it works, continue with the steps below.

5) Go to http://calendar.yahoo.com/YYY,a720b5/srt,0/?v=120&a0=2&pv=61
and download the software again.

6)Reinstall the program, and see if it works.

Hmm... could you please ignore the above instructions for the time
being. I'm trying this out with my own Palm, and something doesn't
seem to be working as it should with the Intellisync uninstallation.
I'll continue to work on my own setup first...sorry about that.

I've discovered there's a problem with the default uninstall process.
I'm adding the points below for the procedure to work correctly.

2.1) Go to the Windows Registry. Start>run>regedit.
2.2) Expand hkey_current_user>software>us robotics>pilot desktop.
2.3) Look for ApplicationIntellisyncAddressBook and press 'delete'. Do
that for all the Intellisync entries.
2.4) Click on Hotsync Manager (it's a few entries down). Look at the
right hand side and find a Notifier entry that contains
'yahoo/intell...', and delete this entry.
2.5) Exit Windows Registry. Reboot the computer. Proceed with point (4).

Thanks for the prompt response.

I was able to follow your instructions except item 2.4) Click on
Hotsync Manager (it's a few entries down). Look at the right hand side
and find a Notifier entry that contains 'yahoo/intell...', and delete
this entry. There was no reference to anything related to Yahoo on the
right.

I did try and re-sync at work and a few items did sync but only a
small percentage. My most current data is in Yahoo (calendar, address,
etc) and I would like that to OVERIDE EVERYTHING. I did try to sync at
home and there was a USB connect error and wasnt reading properly.
Please advise.

OK, so now, you are able to Hotsync with Intellisync reinstalled, is
that correct? Please right click on the Hotsync Manager icon, 'view
log', and copy and paste the text to let me see what did or did not
Hotsync properly.

You can specify whether you want to 'import', 'export', or
'synchronise' (the norm) the data in the Intellisync program.

At your home PC, is Intellisync uninstalled? Or reinstalled? Our aim
is to at least have Hotsync work after it's uninstalled. Only then
should we try to proceed and reinstall Intellisync.
