Thanks for your message, Rick.
There's a French site selling vintage magazines and newspapers which
offers the issue of Elle with Nico and Ari on the cover. You may be
surprised - I was. She doesn't look very like the swinging sixties
"chick" with long hair that we see in most pictures.
I hope this link will take you directly to the listing:
If that doesn't work, choose "Elle" from this list:
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on number 43. The issue of
Jan 4th 1963 is last on the page. Click on the picture to enlarge.
When I saw this photograph, I compared cheekbones and facial shape and
was sure in my own mind that it was her, but her image was so
different from other pictures that I was pleased to find a website
dedicated to Nico confirming I had found the right issue of Elle!

It's also on this page of pictures:
I hope you will have this magazine in your hands soon. Please let me
know if I can help you at all with the ordering process, and I'll do

After finding the magazine, I used a number of unsuccessful searches
looking for confirmation that it was definitely Nico. The successful
one used her original name, Christa Päffgen.
That led me here:
I also tried emailing Elle but haven't heard back from them.
Contact information for Elle includes a phone number for inquiring
about back issues:
