Does the Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Lee Amritage have a wife
and family and who are they?

Mr. Armitage is indeed married with children. I do know how many
children he has and the name of at least one of the children. I have
read that he is a painfull private individual and I doubt more can be
discovered about him given the obvious need for privacy these days. If
you would like the limited information I WAS able to find please let
me know and I will post it as an answer for you.

I believe that there may be at least seven children.

Since you are agreeable to accepting what limited information I was
able to find, here you go:

Richard Armitage appears to be a very private person about whose
private life little is published. You are right though. At the time of
his confirmation Mr. Armitage was married and had seven children. I
found nothing to indicate that he is no longer married to the same
wife briefly mentioned (only as ?wife?) in this article:

I was not able to identify his wife by name but I did find a couple of
recently published mentions of one of his children, a daughter named
Alice Elizabeth Armitage:
