Not exactly. I'm not looking for component specs. I'm more interested
in any literature (articles, publications, user's manuals, etc) that
can describe or define a "direct parallel bus interface".

Hello,

A "direct parallel bus interface" is simply "connecting two computer
together with a single parallel cable".  Parallel cables, AKA LPT, are
slow cables with big connectors that people used to use for their old
printers.  Under XP's "Network Connection Wizard", you may use direct
linking technology such as this to connect the two computers together
on a network.
