Hi there and thanks for the question.

I decided to start of by checking out the various common causes of
Rectal Prolapse in children. And from the following site - eMedicine -
I was able to pull out some general information about Rectal Prolapse.

For children a variety of factors does influence the cause of Rectal
Prolapse. These include the factors you mentioned, constipation,
diarrhea and cystic fibrosis. However, further possibilities are also
due to straining that might occur during toilet training or heavy
coughing - for example Whooping Cough - or even vomiting.

Another cause is parasitic infections or neoplastic disease, these
include for example Trichuriasis also known as whipworm or Polyps
which can cause a Rectal Prolapse. Mal-nutrition can be a factor and
this is common in less developed nations around the world.

There are also Neurological disorders such as:
"- Previous lower back or pelvic trauma/lumbar disc disease
 - Cauda equina syndrome
 - Spinal tumors
 - Multiple sclerosis"

If you like to see the list, it is avaliable at:

Another list of causes can be found at:
]

Much of this site has the same causes that are on the eMedicine site.
On this site it also includes such causes as Hirschsprung's Disease.
Other factors that should also be considered are anatomical such as
Pelvic Floor Weaknesses which can increase the chances of a Rectal
Prolapse to happen; this can be caused by potential nerve disorders or
deformities to the spinal cord caused by Spina Bifida.

I tried to find some kind of link between allergies or antibiotics
such as Augmentin. A site I found suggests that certain types of
medications can slow down the passage feces in the intestine and this
can cause constipation, which in turn can be a cause of Rectal
Prolapse. The site is called C-Heath – Disease in Depth and the link
is:
]

Such drugs are quoted as:

"-antidepressants
 -narcotics such as codeine
 -some antacids
-heart medications such as calcium-channel blockers
 -diuretics
 -iron supplements
 -anticonvulsants used for epilepsy"

For allergies another site suggests that it could be caused by being
allergic to gluten which is in wheat, rye and other cereals, also
known as celiac disease. In extreme cases this intolerance can cause a
rectal prolapse. However celiac disease will cause other stomach and
intestinal difficulties which would be easily identifiable.
http://www.ucheepines.org/celiac_disease.htm

As for Augmentin I did a search for side effects that may happen if
Augmentin is taken. According to the site at:

These side effects include:
"Nearly all antibiotics, including Augmentin ES-600, may cause
antibiotic-associated colitis (severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, and
fever)"
This is further verified by the following site drugstore.com:
]

I was unable to find any links to suggest that Augmentin could cause a
Rectal Prolapse as a side effect. Although severe diarrhea is a
possible contributor to getting the Rectal Prolapse. However since the
child is not getting such symptoms then Augmentin is probably not the
cause of the rectal prolapse here.

I hope that I have been able to answer your question and if you would
like to follow up with questions or a reponse I would be most happy to
answer them as best I can.

Best wishes
