I'm trying to find the birth and death years for Gerhard Kohlmayer (it
might also be spelled Kohlmayr). He is an amateur mathematician who
has spent years trying to prove that the Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory
is inconsistent. I suspect he may be alive and living in California.

Hi mbhenry-ga,

I've got a DOB on some one who may or may not be your guy. He has
degrees in theoretical physics, is listed as having mathematical
interests, and was connected with a university in Darmstadt and
Rensselaer Polytechnic. He'd be in his mid-seventies. He does not,
however, live in California. Also although his listing appears to be
current, the last record I have for him online is 2001.

Does this sound like a possible?

luciaphile-ga

Okay, I'll see if I can't run down some further mention of him for the
past year or so.

Have you had any more luck with this one? I'm now offering an extra $5.

Hi mbhenry-ga,

No, I'm afraid I haven't. Like I said, I have a DOB. I have a site
that indicates he was around in 2001. I can also verify that the
address from the reference book matches up with a current listing for
Dr. Kohlmayr (although I'm hesitant to provide that as I think that
might be a conflict with GA's TOS). I did give the information I had
to my fellow GAR's, but no one's come up with anything new, Not sure
how you want to proceed.

Regards,
luciaphile-ga

Hi mbhenry-ga,

I have lost the site I had that listed him for 2001 so I'm going to
post all of this as a comment.

Gerhard Franz Kohlmayr was born on 30 November 1930 in Klagenfurt,
Austria. He received a BS in 1951 and a PhD in theoretical physics in
1959 from Graz Tech. University. He held positions at Darmstadt Tech.
University, the Von Humboldt Foundation, Rensselaer Polytech, and
Pratt & WQhitney Aircraft. He founded something called the Mathmodel
Consult Bureau in 1974, and five years later, the Mathmodel Press.

"Gerhard Franz Kohlmayr," American Men & Women of Science. Detroit,
MI: Gale Group, 2003, 21st ed., vol 4, p. 445

I also checked the Social Security Death Index just doing a search for
"kohlmayr" and found nothing.

The last address I have for him is for Glastonbury, CT, which
corresponds to what I found in the reference book.

Best of luck with this one!
