Hi Shalz~ The Vikings were a group of people who traveled from their homeland (Scandinavia) to many other countries?-including America (known to the Vikings as Vinland). Not only were the Viklings great travelers, they were great traders, too; they traded goods like spices or fabric for things they needed. The Vikings were also raiders, who snuck up on towns and stole goods they wanted or needed. The Vikings originally were famous as raiders; tales of their sneak attacks became legendary?-perhaps even exaggerated. They were known to have superior ships and weaponry, and to be excellent fighters. Therefore, the towns they attacked had little hope of fighting back. The Vikings lived in this fashion from about the 9th century to the 11th century.
