I am trying to find out the easiest, simpliest and lease walkable
route to see the 6 barns of Arlington, Virginia. Markj-ga did a
fantastic and unbelievable job for me researching about the Barns of
Arlington and locating where they are located. (see the barns of
arlington question) for that information. However I am trying to see
if I can find a street address for theses barns which would prevent me
from having to walk 0.9 miles in the heat on the W&OD trail from a
metro station. I am hoping that maybe I can find a bus to take me to
central location and then walk to the barns which would be cloer by.
Please don't be offended Markj-ga you did a great job but I just
wanted to see what other could tell me too.

Thank you, Stephenh-ga

stephenh --

In researching the public transportation directions to the four barns
in Falls Church, I stopped searching once I found that the East Falls
Church Metro stop was .9 miles from 312 Park Ave., Falls Church, which
is the address of the most centrally located barn in the cluster of
four in the area and the only one that is publicly owned (with guided
tours).

I had assumed that you would rather walk down the trail to get to the
barn, but I can't blame you for wanting to ride, given our very warm
and humid weather. So, if you would rather ride than walk that
distance, you can take either of two buses from the East Falls Church
Metro station to 312 Park Ave.

One option is taking bus #26A to the stop at the corner of Park Ave.
and Little Falls Street. This stop is less than 1/10 of a mile
northwest of the stop. This trip will take you about 1/2 hour and
will cost 25 cents.

The other option is taking bus #3A to the corner of N. Washington St.
and Park Ave. which takes only six minutes, for $1.20. 312 Park Ave.
is .2 miles northwest of the bus stop.

The source for this information is a very useful tool for using public
transportation around this area (I wasn't aware of it until now). It
is called the "Ride Guide" of the Washington Metropolitan Transit
Authority, and here is a link to it:
WMATA: Ride Guide
http://rideguide.wmata.com/

You simply enter your starting and ending locations (with an address
or the name of a recognized location) and the bus and subway
directions are given.

As you noted in your question, I have not been able to find the street
addresses of the other three properties in this cluster that have
barns, and I hope that another researcher can provide it for you. For
their convenient reference, here is the link to your previous question
and my answer:

As for the addresses of the locations of the two barns in Dunn Loring,
you already have those on the Dunn Loring "Guided Tour" map that I
provided for you. They are sites 1 and 2 on that map, and they are
located at 2400 Sandburg Street and the corner of Idylwood and Galls
Roads, respectively. As I told you, those sites are within two blocks
of the Dunn Loring Metro stop on the Orange Line.

I hope that this information is of additional help to you, and I hope
that another researcher can nail down those other addresses for you.
