In the US, the trade name for Acadione/Tiopronin is Thiola (see http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/DVH/Uses/0,3915,6255%7CThiola,00.html). I would imagine it could be purchased at any pharmacy with a valid prescription (I would recomend calling your pharmacy first). I also found the following online sites which sell Thiola: https://www.tsscart.com/mp/servlet/mp.Main?n=ProductSelectionScreen&l=dayrx&productDetail=Thiola http://www.destinationrx.com/prescriptions/compare.asp?prodid=15740&type=a&Dosage_Size=100MG&Qty=30&name=Thiola The drug is manufactured/distributed by Mission Pharmaceutical. The complete prescribing info is found here: http://www.missionpharmacal.com/docs/Thiola.pi.C04.00802.pdf Apparently, there have been issues with stability of this drug, and, as such, certain forms must be completed by you, your doctor, and your pharmacist, prior to shipment of the drug to your pharmacy. The forms and procedure are located at this web address: http://www.missionpharmacal.com/docs/Thiolaltrs.pdf Hope that was helpful. -d |
