My mother recalls a perfume made by Picot (I understand their assets were bought over by Jovian) called 'fiesta' in 1950's or thereabouts. I wish to find out if it is still in existence, or whether there is a similar perfume still produced. |

I have not been able to find any references to "Fiesta." There's some good advice here: http://www.basenotes.net/community/wanted.html Keep in mind that most fragrances do not have an unlimited shelf-life; even if a bottle of this product can be found, it is very likely that it would no longer smell the same. Chemical changes in both the oils and the volatile substances occur with the passage of time. Good luck! |

Picot's "fiesta"

I could find no reference to a fragrance named "fiesta." However, there is this note: "Stephen V. Dowthwaite is the principle instructor and founder of PerfumersWorld. He has been the industry since 1971 and trained in fine perfumery in the UK (Picot Laboratories - one of the last creative perfumery houses in the UK -the perfumes are now in the Jovan stable)." http://www.perfumersworld.com/mission/profsvd.htm The only fragrances I could find are "Suede" made in the '60s and "Le Train Bleu" made in the '40s. Below is a link to the Suede bottle which, by the way, is available in a sealed, unopened container. www.bathantiquesonline.com/.../ antique-vintage-perfume-scent-bottles-collectibles-12.html bigalofechopark |

I worked with Picot in the 70's. Their fragrances included Pagan, Pagan Man, Le Train Bleu, Lily of the Valley in Bloom, Suede, Akabar and the fragrance you seek Fiesta. Fiesta was a created as Picots answer to Chanel No. 5 an aldehydic floral, aldehydes a lot of Italian Jasmin absolute, Ylang Extra. It was discontinued in the late 70's after Picot (then owned by Scott & Bowne - the Scott's Cod liver oil people and contract manufacturers for 4711 and other toiletries)was bought by Beechams. They then essentially closed down the creative work as their size dwarfed Picot. Farmed the 2 most popular fragrances Pagan and Pagan Man to Jovan and shut up shop. Fiesta disappeared. If you try Chanel No.5 or Arpege by Lanvin as alternatives (Coty had a similar one in the 20's but I think has also be discontinued). Steve Stephen V. Dowthwaite |
