I use an open source tool called rrdtool to help monitor and graph
various metrics gathered from multiple servers. rrdtool has an option
called --alt-y-mrtg which simplifies the graphs slightly and improves
the aesthetics. However, this option has a bug with the math function
when dealing with large values (such as the number of bytes on a hard
disk). This results in incorrect y-axis labels on the generated graph.
The problem is described in slightly more detail at this URL:

http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/rrd-users/msg05778.html

I am looking for a fix to this math function that will give a proper
y-axis label value for the graphs.

The source code to this program is located at:

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/pub/rrdtool-1.0.48.tar.gz

The function in question is located in the file rrd_graph.c.

I can supply sample images that illustrate the problem if necessary.
