I read an article, probably in Inc Magazine, about a new trend in
which a group of consultants would form a type of "collective" in
which they would go to market together and it had several examples,
but I have no idea how to find such an article.

Hello.

My guess is that you read this article:

"Independents' Day
Want to start your own revolution? It's easy. Just bring together a
group of strong-willed entrepreneurs and form an alliance. Your
independence may depend on it."
From: Inc. Magazine, Aug 2002 By: Kate O'Sullivan
http://www.inc.com/magazine/20020801/24454.html

Some of the "collectives" that you remember from the article may have been:

Women in Consulting
Founded: January 1998
Members: 128 solo business consultants in Silicon Valley and the San
Francisco Bay area

GlobalFluency, an international network of high-tech public-relations agencies
Founded: August 2001
Members: More than 40 agencies in 26 countries
Driver: High-tech customers that are expanding overseas are seeking
global PR firms.

----------
search strategy:
browsed the "strategic alliances" articles inc.com
http://www.inc.com/finder/inc?w=leadership_strat/grow_biz/partnerships&f=channel&s=r.created&t=advanced

I hope that the article above is the one that you wanted. If not,
please use the "request clarification" feature to let me know. Thanks.

Actually, I don't think it's the one. I remember that the article
included people from Silicon Valley and their collective had a funny
name. They weren't in the same industry, but more complimentary. I
think one guy was a strategist, and there was a woman who did
marketing and they were both involved. I think they were based in
Menlo Park?? Thanks.

Okay, what's your best guess of when you read this article? This year?
Last year? A few years ago?

How about this one?

"The Declaration of Independents" Inc. Magazine, Sept 2001 By: Susan Greco

All of Inc's articles from the last few years seem to be online, so
I'll keep searching until we find the one that you want.
