I have a 27 year old son who has Schizophrenia and cannot work. I
have been his sole support for most of his life. My ex husband has
not contributerd medical assistance or living assistance at all since
he became disabled at age 16.

We live in Wisconsin. What are the laws in Wisconsin that would
require my ex husband to help in my son's support since he has never
been emacipated and you cannot consider him an adult because of the
limitations of his illness.

Hello igcayala-ga,

Unfortunately, it appears as though there is no law in Wisconsin that
requires support after the age of majority. However, you may be able
to collect past due support.

Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement
Wisconsin State Profile
http://ocse3.acf.dhhs.gov/ext/irg/sps/report.cfm?State=WI&CFID=193934&CFTOKEN=35402016
?Does your State allow support to be paid beyond the age of majority
under any circumstances (e.g. the child is handicapped or in
college)??

?No?

?What is your State's statute of limitations for collection of past due support??

?20 years.?

luck to you.
