Where can I find a site that constantly updates current changes to
major US stock indexes?
I'm trying to find a service or site that daily updates the stocks
which are going to be added and deleted from most of the major US
stock indexes listed in Yahoo Finance under Indices. |

I've located a site that constantly updates the stocks that are being
added to and deleted from some of the major US stock indexes (e.g.,
the S&P 500, S&P 100, S&P 400 MidCap, S&P 600 SmallCap).
The site is not as comprehensive as you would have probably liked
because it doesn't cover all of the major U.S. indexes. However, if
you think it'd help, I could provide you with a link to that site. If
you don't think it'd be worth a $100, you could reduce the price of
this question.

I have located the S&P changes to the indices site,
"http://www2.standardandpoors.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?GXHC_gx_session_id_=8ffaf997ce075c80&pagename=sp/Page/IndicesIndexChangesPg&r=1&l=EN&b=4"
but I'm looking for a site or series of sites or a pay service that
also lists the changes to the Russell indexes, NYSE, Nasdaq, and
possibly any other major indices.
I've read that there are service that provide such data. If not, there
must be multiple sites, such as the S&P, that will do.
The preferred resolution is one site or service that does it.
Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your question. You would think that this information
would be more readily available- but you really have to weed through
the web to find comprehensive sites. I hope these sites will help.
Please let me know if you need any clarification.

major indexes and it shows updated lists of the stocks represented.

Jerry,
I am very sorry that I misunderstood your question. After speaking
with a stock broker friend of mine on the matter, I now understand
exactly what you are seeking. While the websites that I listed in my
answer should still be helpful to this end, I believe the full service
is available through numerous pay sites and would have appreciated the
opportunity to clarify my response.
I would be happy to still clarify for you if you would like. However,
If you wish to apply for a refund, you may do so at:

Again, I'm sorry that my answer didn't suit your needs. Please don't
let it deter you from using Google Answers in the future.

Anthony

Anthony,
If you have a list of pay sites, that's what I'm looking for.
Please send them.

Jerry,
It seems that most indices change too infrequently to warrant a
special service focusing on additions and deletions. However, this
information can be deduced for the major indices you have requested.
I have provided links to sites that update the companies listed for
each index daily and through comparison to prior days, additions and
deletions can be seen.
These changes are also posted on the press sites that I've listed below.
The pay services will provide you with a more comprehensive set of
updated index composition lists and news updates, so that you will not
have to go to so many different sites for the information.
-------------Pay Services-------------------------------------------------------
This site (according to email confirmation) has a pay service where
they update all of the major US stock indices using corresponding
official index web sites. This service also includes analysis,
predictors, etc.
http://www.analyzeindices.com/
This site provides free updated information on the composition of some
of the major indices and premium index analysis, included real-time
updates on composition and news alerts:
http://www2.barchart.com/indices.asp?code=Bwslct
This site monitors IPO's and the pay service gives email updates that
would make you aware if a new stock was entering a major index.

I'm sorry that this is not the ideal answer to your question, but a
comprehensive service like the one you would prefer does not seem to
exist. I have spent many hours trying to track one down, but to no
avail. However, through checking financial news-wires and comparing
the updated company lists I have provided, you will be able to track
which new stocks are being traded on the major indices and which have
lost their seats. I hope this helps. If you are still unsatisfied, you
may repost your question for another researcher to tackle or apply for
a refund at the link above. Thanks again for your question.

Anthony,
I checked all these sites, but none of them lists the Additions and
Deletions. On the S&P site that you and I found, there is an
up-to-date list of them.
Everything here just shows what's currently on the list. There is no
mention of which stocks will be added and deleted and when.
I think we've reached the end of the road.
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry,
Yes, Like I've said, most of the indexes change to infrequently to
warrant a seperate page to list additions and deletions (the Russel
indexes, for example are only changed once a year and I have provided
the schedule for when they will reconstitute it this year). However,
those changes can be known by checking the press releases and/or
comparing the lists of companies with those of the previous day and
checking for changes to them.
I know it is not the answer that you wanted, but I assure you that I
completely searched the web for a site such as you would have
prefered, and it does not seem to exist.
I understand if you are unsatisfied and again apologize for having
misinterpreted your question. I had thought initially that a series of
sites providing updated composition lists that you could check for
additions and deletions would be a satisfactory response. Thank you
for submitting your question and allowing me to clarify a bit.
Best regards,
Anthony
