Thanks for your question, Valeriac,
Comparing teaching qualifications is a very important work and - now
globalization has become part of everybody's vocabulary - also in
volume a major task.
The decisions not only involve whether people can get into
universities and schools as students or teachers, but often also
whether they get visas or scholarships. The task of dealing with those
decisions belongs to the responsiblity of national governments, who
have assigned special institutions for that task.
I'm from Holland and there we have the NUFFIC, dealing with those
issues.
Their website has learned me that the European Union now has its own
umbrella organization called enic-naric, but their website mainly
refers to the sites of the different member organizations. The
relevant British organization is called Naric.
The system is slightly different for all countries, but in general you
will find on each web site the information you want. I will list here
the British information, since that is what you specifically asked.
Most of the comparisons between degrees have already been made in the
past. A list of recognized higher education institutions you can find
at
http://www.dfes.gov.uk/recognisedukdegrees/wcoukd.shtml
Policies and procedures for recognition of degrees in the UK you can
find at:
http://citizens.eu.int/en/en/gf/st/en/topic.htm
In case you want to know whether your specific degree first the
standards for study or employment in the UK you will have to apply by
mail:
http://www.naric.org.uk/comparabilityofQualifications.htm
Again: the general web site gives you easy access to similar
information from all other EU-member states.
Good luck with your step into globalibalization.
Regards,
Fons
