Hello fellow -ga's

This question is primarily aimed at UK, business minded -ga's though
others are more than welcome to answer but there will be
proportionately more research involved.

I have a UK retail product which can be viewed at http://itele.info
which is essentially a multi-functional communications product, and
integrated ISP on a CD card.

I am completely new to retailing, I’ve already searched but it seems
difficult to find the buyer contacts. How do I market this product to
appropriate retail channels such as, Dixons, PC World, Woolworths, The
Link, Car Phone Warehouse, Sainsburys, Tesco, John Lewis, Virgin, HMV?

What is the standard protocol, and benchmark deposit, payment terms
for volume orders of this kind?

Practical contact details are favoured over text book ‘this is how it
could be done’ information.

Thanks

regards lot-ga

Hi lot-ga :)

Just a quick comment or two:

1. Firstly, looks like a GREAT product - very convenient and
reasonably priced;
2. Probably not what you want to hear BUT if you are new to retailing,
I think the best way forward is to engage a retail marketing
specialist - the market is so competitive right now in the UK for
these kinds of products that professional guidance (given that you are
new to retailing) is likely to give you an edge. Also, quite a few of
the professional marketing firms in the UK are willing to take either
equity or backlogged fees if they think they are on to a winning
products - as a matter of initial engagement, the right firm such
automatically provide you with benchmark deposits, payment terms,
market saturation, etc;
3. You could try marketing it the old fashioned way which is simply to
knock on lots of doors until you reach the "buying" department -
again, the market is so competitive right now that this approach will
definitely require persistance, tenancity and willpower!

Hope you find the above comments useful!
