Question ID: 351375
I'm looking to buy two Kurosawa's films in DVD (NTSC or PAL any
region) or VHS (only NSTC) with English subtitles: 1) Asu o tsukuru
hitobito (1946) (also known as: "Those who make tomorrow"), 2) Uma
(1941) (also known as: "Horse" that was directed by Kajiro Yamamoto).
Does anybody knows where can I buy them?

I thought I had a possible lead but neither collection panned out for
your titles of interest.

"On DVD, most of his films are available in the Hong Kong market from
Mei Ah Laser Disc Co., and you can locate these online. The image
quality on these disks is quite good, but, unfortunately, the
subtitling is awful, and many of the characters' names have been
changed. If you know Japanese, this is not a problem -- you can always
turn the titles off."

Horse might not even still be in print. Kurosawa only directed a few
scenes as wasn't actually credited on the film, as he was actually an
assistant director on the production.

As for Those Who Make Tomorrow, Kurosawa wanted nothing to do with the
film but was forced by the studio to take part, so it's unlikely to be
involved in any collection of his work that is authorized.
