Hi sherpaj-ga:
I was able to locate the manual for the XKE series on the new
buympc.com website (the new identity for Micron PC) on the following
list:
http://support.buympc.com/apps/manualhub.asp?ID=101&Categ=191
In particular, the one for your exact model is in this self-extracting download:
ftp://ftp.buympc.com/support/Notebook/MANUALS/MAS001412/1412-02.exe
After you download and run this self-extracting file, you will find
the manual in PDF format in the default "C:/manual/" folder. On page
36 of this manual, you will see a diagram which indicates that there
are two sliding latches located on the bottom of the laptop, each one
serving as the latch for one of the two expansion bays. You will need
to slide and hold the latch for the bay where your current battery is
installed. The default location for the battery is the left expansion
bay.
There does not appear to be any provision for a security screw to
prevent the battery from being removed using just the slide latch and
a little coaxing to pull the battery out. If the battery will not come
out even after you have slid the slide latch over and have tried
pulling on the battery, then there is the possibility that some part
of the battery case is jammed inside the laptop. You can try removing
the battery with the laptop in different positions to see if that
helps convince it to come loose.
Please let me know if you are able to remove the battery using the
information provided in the manual; if you continue to have
difficulty, just let me know and I will see what other sources of
information I can find for you!
Regards,
aht-ga
