Greetings, 1equip!

DMOZ / Open Directory listings are added purely at the discretion of
the Editor of the particular Category in question. The appearance and
quality of a site have a great deal to do with whether an Editor will
be willing to add it to the Directory.

From their Help information on submitting a site:
"To keep the ODP running smoothly and to assist us in exercising our
editorial discretion, we have set up policies for submitting sites for
our consideration. We may reject, delete, or edit submissions that
violate these policies or that we otherwise believe, in our sole
discretion, should not be included in the directory. We may also
reject, delete, or block other sites that we believe to be associated
with a user who has violated these policies..."
http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

This is followed by a list of specific rules and requirements, as well
as suggestions to increase the likelihood of a site being accepted.

If you are interested in doing so and are willing to post the URL of
your website, I would be willing to critique it and offer suggestions
for improvement *before* you try to submit it to DMOZ once again.
However, I have to emphasize that nothing I -- or anyone else -- can
do for you will **guarantee** that your site will be included in the
Open Directory.

Regards,

aceresearcher

Thank you for the response. The website is www.equipofficefurniture.com.au

Do you remember under what DMOZ category you submitted your website?

I think the last submission around March was
Shopping/Office_Products/Furniture and i can search through my records
if it is really important. I tried a couple of similar but different
site earlier on in January with no success.

We've seen some sites wanting to get listed in DMOZ that need a *lot*
of help to meet the Directory's standards.

However, your site is not one of them, and I can't justify taking a
fee to suggest trivial changes to your site.

Your best bet is to use the DMOZ site to contact the Editor of your
desired category, and ask nicely if they'd be willing to give you some
suggestions on what to do with your site to make it acceptable for
their standards, so that they'll be willing to add it to the
Directory.

I do know that DMOZ Editors do *not* appreciate it when a site is
re-submitted repeatedly, as some of the more impatient webmasters have
done. Even though it may take a while, I encourage you to hold off
re-submitting your site for at least a couple of months in the hopes
that the Editor will respond to your query (if you've recently
resubmitted it, then hold off for at least 6 months). In some of the
bigger, busier categories, an Editor can have a lot of submissions to
wade through, and it takes time.

I wish you all the best and hope that you have good luck in persuading
DMOZ to list your site.

Best Wishes,

aceresearcher

Find the editor for the specific category you're interested in
(editors are listed at the bottom of Open Directory pages) and contact
them.

No guarantees, though -- editors have NO obligation to add your site
to the directory.
