Is there a company that manufactures an electric appliance for
removing matted dog hair? I have located and used many comb like
devices with sharp edges. I'm interested in information on a devise
similar to electric hair clippers.

Oster A5 Turbo Clippers are highly regarded by many groomers:

Many other pet clippers are available:

Do any of these meet your needs?

These are all standard clippers that can be used to cut off matts
leaving the hair very short. I'm looking for a devise that will cut
through the matt and leave the hair long. An electric version of the
hand held matt strippers that you find when you search for "matt
remover".

We just purchased the Sharper Image Ionic Bath Small Pet Brush for our
dogs. The samll one was about $39. We have only been able to use it
once (tonight) BUT it has removed virtually every tangle and knot from
their hair with no cutting. We haven't had a chance to try it on a
matt yet, but I'm sure that will come up shortly. (It runs on a
9-Volt Battery to produce the charge, and the hair takes on a
different "life", so I wouldn't be surprised if a matt just dissolved
out!) Neat product!
