I need to know what toilet seats are made of in the USA. All Acceptable FDA approved plastic components. Also, if selling a toilet seat in the USA does the FDA have any control over design, advertising, etc? Thank You. |

Toilet seats can be ADA approved (handicapped) sometime UL approved (flammability?) but not FDA approved. Most toilet seats are still painted, compressed fiberboard for $10. All-plastic (polypropylene? hey that's PP!) seats are nicer but cost $25. I think I've seen fiberglass seats too, but they might be glass-filled pp. Look on ebay and you'll find other kinds of seats, like polyurethane seats with brass hardware or epoxy-cast seats containing coins. |
