Probably one of the candidates was Jack Lazarus. ("Conservative-supported") Try an Amazon "search inside" on "All the Devils Are Here" by David Seabrook. See page 79: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1862074836/ref=sib_rdr_dp/103-4972127-8846225?%5Fencoding=UTF8&no=283155&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&st=books See also: "Unionist Parliamentary candidate, Jack Lazarus" ://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22Unionist+Parliamentary+candidate,+Jack+Lazarus&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&filter=0 It looks as if the election meeting described was in the right part of Lambeth: http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/lambeth/lambeth-north/lambeth-baths.htm See also: ://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=%22william+joyce%22+lambeth&btnG=Search&meta= But you'll still have to go to the library, I'm afraid. Hi Freddy, Hi Leli, Hi Lo, Great Links ... Many thanks. Yes, I was hoping that Jack Lararus's name would pop out of the hat, and it did! But the fate of the Lambeth Baths was a bonus. OK, so I don't really mind having to go to the Library again because EVERYBODY there is so nice and helpful So, Leli, please post an answer! Warmest regards Bryan |

Hi, Again, Freddy That was one GREAT Link. Thanks again! I hadn't realised how many 'parties' there'd been during that timespan. The next time I'm in Cheltenham, I'll give you a big wave, from the street. I don't expect that 'they' would let me in to such a hush-hush establishment, would they? Bryan |

Bryan, apologies for going AWOL for a while. I'm very glad you found your answer at the library. I was lucky and found Jack Lazarus quite quickly, so you didn't need to make your kind suggestion that I should post my snippet of information in the official box, but thank-you so much for your usual generous spirit. Election meetings were much more exciting in the days when people actually went to them. Hope the research is going well - Leli |

Bryan, are you sure about Briant being a Labour candidate? Liberal Party, according to http://www.election.demon.co.uk/marginal.html Frank Briant? http://politics.guardian.co.uk/politicspast/story/0,9061,989582,00.html http://www.liberalhistory.org.uk/record.jsp?type=page&ID=138&liberals%20and%20women Looking forward to see your big wave from the street. Well, sorry to say, ... I suppose they wouldn't let you in. Regards, Freddy |

Leli, You are so kind ... Many thanks! Freddy, Briant was a Liberal. Silly me, I had assumed that 'L' meant Labour but I discovered my error when I saw the Results today in The Times. Many thanks! Bryan |
