the method of capturing is important, it depends on how powerful your
computer is. Theres three possible methods, first of all you may
already have your answer- if you have a digital video camera (meaning
it records on dv tape and is capable of uploading video to your
computer, be sure not to mistake for digital zoom on a hi-8 camera or
something) then it may have a feature that records from rca plugs, if
so use it to capture (great way to capture by-the-way)then upload the
video to your pc, assuming you have a firewire card and cord, and
software to edit and interperate the dv data, (windows movie maker
comes free with windows xp). second option a analog-video capture
card witch like adamfreeland-ga preferred, however i do not believe
you have to spend alot for a good picture, the quality will sometimes
depend on your pc's power along with the card. I prefer the ATI
All-in-Wonder line, make sure to shop around and read reviews about
the cards. This method by the way will be the most cpu power
demanding method, it will require alot of processing and memory along
with its pci card processing power and memory, jus be sure to look at
the specs and compare your pc to them, the third and last method would
be to use a dazzle tower, an external device that will use either usb
1.1, usb 2.0 or firewire. It works good in converting a vcr's analog
signal to digital video data and requires much less of your pc then
the internal pci video capture card method. The picture will look
fine and you won't have to worry about opening your computer and
voiding a warrenty or harming it. Dazzle, now owned by Pinnacle
Systems comes with excellent software. The dazzle tower would be a
good ebay buy, cause its a small device that either works or doesn't
work, no in-between. Well hoped i answered your question! |
