Sorry that I just came across this question. Although my answer has
three ways to get the package there, I don't think it will help. The
cheap way won't work since it is so late in the day. The other two
ways don't meet your "under $100" requirement. The other two ways
will cost in the $200-$300 range. I'll still tell you the three
options, so you will know about them in future situations.
First, USPS Express Mail would be a possibility - believe it or not.
Although most post offices are closed most of the weekend and on
holidays, like Memorial Day, there are a few very large facilities
that remain open. For example, there is one in Redford Michigan that
is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you can get there before
noon, you can have your package delivered Monday at the usual Express
Mail rate! More rural areas may have a guarantee time for Express
Mail of two days instead of overnight. But, most areas are guaranteed
overnight. I own an Internet-order company. We had a customer
frantically place an order with us on Christmas Eve when they forgot
to finish their Christmas shopping early. USPS Express Mail got it
there Christmas Day!
Second, UPS has a division called SonicAir (www.sonicair.ups.com).
This is a premium SAME DAY delivery service, and they charge a premium
rate. My understanding is they are always open. Basically, UPS
SonicAir dispatches a contractor directly to your location (no big
route to deal with.) They drive straight to the airport, put your
package on the next flight leaving your local airport going to the
destination airport (usually in the cargo area of a commercial
airliner.) UPS SonicAir also dispatches a contractor to the
destination airport who picks up the package, and drives it straight
to the person you shipped it to. They have access to around 30,000
flights. Sometimes they have to use connecting flights if there is no
direct flight. I believe you can even pay them a LOT extra and have
the contractor who picks up your package be THE PERSON who delivers it
to the destination. This additional option means they physically
carry the package the ENTIRE way even while on the plane (assuming it
isn't large, like your package.) If you want to pay even more (tens
of thousands) they will charter a specific flight to go directly to
the destination - in case there isn't any good commercial flights to
use.
Third, FedEx has FedEx SameDay
(http://www.fedex.com/us/services/express/us/sameday.html?link=4).
Their service is a lot like UPS SonicAir. Their website states they
are definately always open.
Wish you luck. |
