I created Groups under my Contacts in my address book in Outlook to store addresses which I infrequently use. I then deleted the addresses under the main Contact list and the names (100+) seemed to stay in the new Group. However, later on all but three disappeared. How can I creat addresses under a separate Group in Outlook so that they are not duplicated in the main Contact list? The main list contains hundreds of contacts if I cannot keep separate groups. oh just use AOL... your better off... i am having trouble trying to understand your question... so you deleated your contacts and all but 3 got deleated? anyways try dupicating your account... you can have many diffrent accounts that use your same ISP e-mail server / user name / etc. the only diffrence is that clones of the same account are kept more seprate (like a virtual wall) when it comes to clashing data |

hey mabey u found a flaw in outlook good 4 u... anyways try to manually deleate everything that gets duplicated or try to use your e-mail client as a normal e-mail client... i think outlook thinks your a spammer or some corporate dude and is designed to malfunction when you do dumb stuff witrh it. anyways just use AOL they offer great service and support for users like u! |

I would suggest that you create another address book under your current Contacts folder (right click on Contacts & add new folder). Then add the email addresses of your 100 contacts. The problem you had is that a group is a reference of specific contacts. So when you deleted the contacts, you also removed the contact from your newly created group. Hope this helps. Let me know if this is not clear |

I may not fully understand you problem but I will give it a try: 1) When you group address items in outlook you are not actually creating a distinct collection of those contacts in your group. When you customize the view by selecting a field to group by you are asking Outlook to arrange your Address Book to display the contacts according to a specific value contained in that field. It is not actually altering or creating new entries--I think about it as creating an anchor. If I understand your intentions correctly Outlook would require you to create a new Address Book: (From Help) Add or remove an address book Do one of the following: Add an address book On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts. Under Directory, click Add a new directory or address book, and then click Next. To add the type of address book you want, do one of the following: Add an address book using an Internet directory service (LDAP) Click Internet directory service (LDAP), and then click Next. In the Server name box, type the name of the server your Internet service provider or system administrator gave you. If the server you specified is password protected, select the This server requires me to log on check box, and then type your user name and password. Click More Settings. Under Display Name, type the name for the LDAP address book that you want to be displayed in the Show names from the list in the Address Book dialog box. Under Connection Details, type in the port number provided to you by your internet service provider (ISP) or system administrator. Click the Search tab, and then change the server settings as needed. The search time-out setting specifies the number of seconds Microsoft Outlook spends searching the LDAP directory to resolve names in a message. You can also limit the number of names listed in the Address Book after a successful search on a name. Under Search Options, if the Search base box is not filled in, type the distinguished names provided for you by your administrator. Click OK, and then click Finish. Add an additioinal address book Click Additional address books. Click the address book you want to add, and then click Finish |
