I'm looking for a commercially demonstrated sulfur dioxide scrubber
that can remove 98% of the sulfur dioxide released from burning a
washed high sulfur coal (sulfur content >2.5%, heat content of coal
11,000 Btu/lb, moisture 14%, ash 9.25%) in a coal-fired electricity
generating station. Minimum size plant: 750 MW.
The answer can take several forms:
a. The names and sizes of existing coal-fired power plants or units
(size 300 MW or greater) world-wide with scrubbers that, on an ongoing
basis, achieve 98% sulfur dioxide removal. It is highly unlikely that
any such plants or units like this operate in the United States or
Canada. If they exist, they will be in Japan, perhaps Europe
(Germany), or possibly elsewhere in Asia. It would be nice to know
something about the coal burned and the company that built the
scrubber.
b. The names and contact information for scrubber manufacturers that
would be willing to provide a vendor guarantee to achieve 98% removal
for the specs above.
my preferred answer is a)
Commercial demonstration means a scurbber on a big plant where the
vendor is well-established large company.
