I'm no chemist, but I'm a good googler. Document http://shw.hkcampus.net/~shw-hks1/aromaQA.doc suggests that number 1, benzene + (CH3)3 CC1 / ALCl3 produces tert-butylbenzene, and that the presence of COH strongly deactivates that reaction. Based on this, I would say your answer is number 4. |
