There is a prohibition against providing any personal information here
in Google Answers so no one here can give you any ?secret? methods to
help you explore for confidential information about anyone based on an
e-mail address, but you can certainly learn as much as people using
Yahoo! are willing to make public by simply looking up their profile.

For example, if you go to http://members.yahoo.com/ and search for the
yahoo ID you want to know about then you will be taken to the public
profile for that member where they list as much or as little as they
wish known ? of course there is absolutely no guarantee that anything
listed there is accurate or truthful in any degree.

If there is no public profile, or there is no useful information in
the public profile, then you must assume that the individual doesn?t
wish that personal information to be available. Either that, or the
individual wasn't computer savvy enough to provide the information you
are seeking - in that case you can certainly send an e-mail to that
address and the individual will reply if they are interested in
contacting you.

This can also provide a check to see if the address/member name is
legitimate because you should receive a message if the e-mail didn?t
go to a legitimate address.

There is no way to force an individual to provide any information
about themselves or to reply to your e-mail query.

If you have some sort of legal dispute with the person using a certain
Yahoo ID then you can contact Yahoo and pursue the matter through
legal channels, but if this is purely a personal matter then all you
can do is look up the information they wish to make public and/or,
send them an e-mail asking for more information.

Google search term ?yahoo member ID?

A word of warning, if you got what appears to be SPAM or some other
inappropriate message from that individual, be aware that Yahoo e-mail
addresses are often hi-jacked by spammers and that therefore there is
no certainty that a message purporting to originate from a specific
Yahoo address actually comes from the person who registered that
address with Yahoo.

I hope this answers your question.
