There was a special wood found in Mexico known as "corazon de
mesquite" in the late 1500's. The characteristic of this wood is that
it grew darker with age. It is claimed that during this time, it was
ONLY in Mexico where you can find this wood. I want to know if there
were also other countries or places where you can find this wood
during this period.

My initial research revealed that MESQUITE TREES belong to the
Class:Magnoliopsida; Order:Fabales; Family:Fabaceae; Genus:Prosopis;
and have several species. And this trees are now scattered in South
America, and can be found also in some parts of the U.S. But the
question is did this trees come from Mexico, and was brought in at a
later date? Or where there other places during the 1600's where these
trees coud have originated? If there was, please provide the proof.

Please provide more than one reference or proof that seem to suggest
that Mesquite trees did not only originate in Mexico.

I don't think anyone actually knows where Mesquite originated:

The Magnificent Mesquite

Ken Rogers, an ecologist with the Texas Forest Service, offers a handy
almanac of all matters related to Prosopis, a genus that probably
originated not in the Southwest but on the plains of Argentina, where
34 of the known 44 species of the tree are found. His text, supported
by photographs and range maps, provides notes on the mesquite's life
history, distribution, and economic importance worldwide. That
importance, Rogers believes, will increase, thanks to the mesquite's
ability to grow on marginal arid lands and to provide a range of wood
products (including highly durable furniture, timber, and flooring),
fodder for livestock, and easily renewable organic matter for fuel and
chemical processes.

Maybe Argentina??

Is there another reference aside from this one, that casts doubt as to
whether Mesquite trees originated only in one place?
