Hi alphadog,

Okey dokey, I think we can get you back on your feet. Microsoft offers
two fixes for this problem, 1) change your profile, or, 2) download
the latest Service Pack.

CHANGING YOUR PROFILE

Method 1: Change Profiles
To do this:
   1. Close Outlook 2002.
   2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
   3. Double-click Mail.
   4. Click Show Profiles.
   5. In the box that reads The following profiles are setup on this
computer, verify if there are two profiles listed. If there are two
profiles listed and Outlook is configured to use a profile named
Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings, the profile may be damaged.
Configure Outlook to use the second profile. To do this:
         1. Click Always use this profile, and then in the box below
this selection, click on the second profile listing.
         2. Click OK.

Method 2: Manually Create a Profile for Outlook 2002
To do this:
   1. Close Outlook 2002.
   2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
   3. Double-click Mail.
   4. Click Show Profiles, click Add, name the profile, and then click OK.
   5. Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
   6. Click a type of account, and then click Next.
   7. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, enter the necessary
information, and then click Next.
   8. Click Finish.
   9. If the Always use this profile option is selected, select the
profile that you just created, and then click OK.

NOTE: In some cases you may need to click the Prompt for Profile
option to correct this problem after you create a new profile."

SERVICE PACK 3

According to Microsoft, the fix for your error is in Service Pack 1
(SP1), and SP1 is included in the later SP3. Error or not, it is
probably a good idea to keep your computer updated with the latest
Service Pack (although you may run into new "issues" to deal with 8-).

Office XP Service Pack 3: Release Date: March 9, 2004:
"Microsoft has released an update to Microsoft Office XP. This update
provides security enhancements in addition to stability and
performance improvements. Some of the fixes that are included with
Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) have been previously released
as separate updates. This service pack combines them in one update.
Office XP SP3 can be installed on any level of Microsoft Office XP and
does not require any earlier service packs to be installed..:"

Click on the following link to "have the Office Product Updates Web
site detect the required updates that you must install on your
computer".
"After detection is complete, you receive a list of recommended
updates for your approval. Click Start Installation to complete the
process.":

I hope this helps and you find Microsoft's instructions easy to
follow. If you need further assistance, please post a clarification
request before closing/rating my answer and I'll be happy to help.

Thank you - and good luck!
