Question ID: 353633
I heard this song on a classic rock radio station about 6 years ago.
The only lyrics I can remember from the song are as follows: "South
Africa ah ah ah...Beautiful Land ah ah ah..." I think it is part of
the chorus.
Any help in identifying the artist and the song title will be greatly appreciated.

Hello smokes135-ga,

I believe the song you are looking for is ?Africa? by the Canadian
band ?Thundermug?.

The actual lyrics are ?Love Africa (aah, aah), beautiful land (aah,
aah)?, however they are apparently often misheard as ?South Africa
(aah, aah), beautiful land (aah, aah)?. The song appears on their
1972 album ?Thundermug Strikes?.

The group is Thundermug and they were from London, Ontario, Canada. The name
of the song is "Africa" and it can be found on the CD "Made In Canada - Our
Rock 'N' Roll History - Volume Three (1965-1974)" from BMG Music Canada
(KCD1-7158). I'm not sure if it's still available though.

The lyrics are really hard to figure out but here's my best guess. If anyone
can offer corrections or fill-in the missing words, I'd greatly appreciate
it.

?It's NOT "south africa, land that i love".
It's "Love Africa (aah, aah), beautiful land (aah, aah)".
The word LOVE comes out sounding like SOUTH when you got a big fat face.
Nothing the least bit political about mauling a word now and again.
There. Now go back to diggin' the hell out of them again! :)

Turning to audience, continuing:
"Afrika" is a song on the first Thundermug album.?

I was very impressed to see a response to my question in less than 24
hours. Google answer is the right path to follow should your searching
lead you astray and nowhere near your goal.
