in 1966. The first performer of this song (later covered by others)
was Still's band, "Buffalo Springfield", also featuring Neil Young,
Richie Furray, Bruce Palmer, Dewey Martin, and Jimmy Messina

The song was a protest song against the war in Vietnam. Another
creation of Stills and Young, later, with David Crosby and Graham Nash
(in "Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young), is the song "Ohio", describing
the death of protesting students in Kent State University (Ohio) by
National Guardsmen's bullets.
