Is there any evidence such as tables of mortality charts etc. that indicate that Born Again Christians live a little longer than the general population? Thanks McIsencraft |

There is anecdotal evidence that people with a mission in life live longer than many others. So, maybe a 'Born Again Buddhist' (for example) would rank alongside any similar others. |

Likely a small increase in longevity could be documented in one of several studies with varrious limits, but doing the studies well would be costly. Because of the Bible verse about being born again, 80% of the Christians, if asked would say they were born again, but only about 10% would volunteer that they were born again without any prompting. Suppose we spot checked two funeral homes selected at random in each of the 48 states, omitting Alaska and Hawii; pick the last two services significantly Christian, and the two services in the last 4 weeks that seemed least Christian, recording the age at death. Would you consider that an adequit test? It would greatly favor the low population states such as Utah which is 60% The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who definately live longer. It would also be quite subjective = opinion of the person who answered the phone at the mortuary/funeral home. The last question should be the age at death to minimise bias. Neil |
