Hello Implantsrus

As you have not specified your computer operating system I will assume
you are using Windows XP, if this is not the case please ask for
clarification.

1) Press Start

2) Go to Run

3) Enter devmgmt.msc in the box that appears (alternatively you can
run Device Manager through the Control Panel)

4) Expand the USB section of the list by clicking on the + next to
Universal Serial Bus Controllers

5) If any of the items in the list has "Enhanced" in the name then you
have USB2 otherwise you have USB1.1.

The standard for USB was altered in April 2000 and became standard in
PC's after this date, if your computer is only a year or two old you
probably have USB2.

"USB 2.0 (High-speed USB) provides additional bandwidth for multimedia
and storage applications and has a data transmission speed 40 times
faster than USB 1.1. To allow a smooth transition for both consumers
and manufacturers, USB 2.0 has full forward and backward compatibility
with original USB devices and works with cables and connectors made
for original USB, too."
