I´m looking for something like the wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org) ,
where the is a great online Community working on one pice of work (in
this case a lexikon). Well, what i´m searching is something, what is a
kind of problem solving machine. Lets say, somebody can discribe a
problem and gives it into a online community, that begins to solve
this problem from different points of view, so that at the and the
great amount of solvers together solve the problem. Is there a
plattform in the internet or just a name for this methode??

Thanx for help!!!

Well, first of all, thanks for the comments, but this is not quit the
thing i´m looking for. All the project named in the comments have
allready a topic or target, that was defined. What i´m looking for is
a plattform where you as a user can define a problem and all other
users can, if they want, work on the solution of the problem.
Ít is a lot like google anwers, with the differnce, that not just one
or to persons work on the solution, than a lot more.

Two examples of such a cooperative effort come to mind. One is GIMPS,
the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search, at http://www.mersenne.org/
. The other is SETI@home, a scientific experiment that uses
Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial
Intelligence, at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ .

Another website in which zillions of netizens work together to produce
something really wonderful (although, alas, not quite as wonderful as
google) is the Open Directory Project, http://dmoz.org/

Yet another website that solicits help from internet volunteers is
Project Gutenberg, at http://www.gutenberg.net/

Try www.experts-exchange.com or www.computing.net.They're basically Q
and A forums but you may be able to get help there.

Joho123, I read your clarification ("What i´m looking for is
a plattform where you as a user can define a problem and all other
users can, if they want, work on the solution of the problem.")
and I think I understand your question better. I would submit that
the Internet itself is the platform that allows all the other services
(the ones that already have a defined topic or target) to operate.

Perhaps you're looking for something with a little more structure
than the Internet itself, but less structure than a website whose
function is to solve a particular problem. For this, I would nominate
the various message board websites, or more generally, the message board
software that is run by the various websites. The kind of message
board that allows users to pose problems, and for others to solve problems
is http://algebra.com/

Having said this, I recognize that it still
doesn't fully answer your question, because you're looking for a
platform that allows a general type of problem to be posed, and then
a massively parallel effort to be launched to solve the problem. Maybe
a researcher can find out what software platforms are used by the GIMPS and
SETI@HOME projects (and others like it) that have general-purpose
applicability, and this would serve as a good answer to your question,
am I right?
