I am looking for confirmation of the subject above for following names:
1. SCHERWIN (this spelling only but could be S Cherwin or SC Herwin or
SCH Erwin) or SCHIEWIN
2. KUNG JAE PARK (again, only this spelling but division is my guess).
I need an answer by Thursday June 10th. The price below is for both
questions -- unfortunatly, one answer has no value for me, only both
as a set. |

One clarification: Possibly, the person was in some fashion attached
to the show (MASH), not necessarily a character or an actor -- maybe a
member of the show crew.

Can you tell us in what context you heard these names? I'm wondering
why there are so many variations to the first one. I have been
assuming you must have "heard" the name spoken somewhere and you are
not sure about what you heard. Can you tell us where and how you came
to know of these names? It might help.

to: tutuzdad-ga. As you may guess from my screen name, I do a lot of
puzzles, many for money. This particular puzzle is a word search type,
all about MASH, where contestants must find a list of given words and
also an additional list where only the first and last letters of each
is given. The way I came to the names:
1. S------N, the only words that fit (in the grid) are SCHERWIN & SCHIEWIN;
2. K---------K, the only word that fits is KUNGJAEPARK.
The additional problem is that occasionally a puzzle may have a
clinker thrown in, i.e. something that sounds right but doesn't exist
or something that is misspelled on purpose. Item l. I suspect may be
the former, item 2. is a dilemma: if it is an intentional misspelling,
it would be an odd coincidence that there is such a (misspelled)
reference as you discovered! The only absolutely sure way would be if
I could get a hold of the actual episode and see how the name was
listed in the credits -- but Season 8 of MASH is not yet available on
video/DVD (at least I can't find it). Incidentally, there are three
different spellings: the one you amazingly found on the blog of the
little girl in Micronesia, and HUNGLAEPARK as well as HUNGLEEPARK.
I hope you are not bored out of your skull by all this but now you can
see why I won't know until the results of this particular contest will
be announced whether I am a winner. The precise definition in the
instructions reads: "These additional words hidden in the puzzle
matrix are words and names that were part of MASH's TV program's
episodes."
Thanks for your patience!

To: tutuzdad-ga. Thanks again but Sherman is not in the grid, and
besides, it is one letter short (remember, it's S------N). I am
inclined to think that this is a red herring, and the correct answer
is no answer. As for your other note, I did check TVTOME, also HELMI,
but I am no closer to a resolution of the Park "mystery" -- I have one
week from now to decide what to submit. I tried to contact someone
connected with the MASH production through CBS but without success.
We'll see.
