Hello, I am a professional free-lance editor, and I was wondering whether there is a web-site where I could advertise myself and solicit perhaps some business. Does such a thing exist? Also, my girlfriend is a momentarily unemployed high-school teacher and I was wondering whether there is a site where she might be able to provide advice on courses etc. for a fee. Many thanks. |

Hello Daniel7719 There are a number of places on the net that would be able to help both you and your girlfriend. Perhaps the two most well known and established are: http://www.guru.com http://www.elance.com These two sites advertise jobs that people have open and allow you to bid on them to get the work. You can also use them to store details of your work and build up an online portfolio. I have personally used elance.com in the past and found it to be excellent. There are also a number of sites that would probably fit your needs with editing jobs: http://www.the-efa.org/index.html http://www.journalismjobs.com/ http://www.contractedwork.com/rt.cfm?p=1&catid=17 http://www.writers-editors.com/ http://www.freelancers.net/ http://www.freelance.com http://www.totaljobs.com/jobseekers/medianewmediacreative_new.asp http://getafreelancer.com/projects/onsearch.php?job_21=on http://www.mediabistro.com/joblistings/ Each of these is either an online job agency or freelance list that allows you to apply for part-time online work. Your girlfriend may also be suited to working as a Google Answers researcher, she should keep an eye out to see when Google Answers starts advertising for additional researchers. http://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html#becomeresearcher If you have any questions regarding this please ask for clarification and I will do my best to help you out. Good luck finding a job! |

Hi there, You might want to try guru.com for editing projects - not so sure about opportunities for high school teachers. Good luck! Emjay-ga |
