Hi - I'm looking for a shared web hosting plan (broadly similar to
www.phpwebhosting.com/) that would allow me to point as many domains
as I wish at the account.

Each domain would resolve to a sub-directory within the allocated site
so that completely seperate websites could be run from within the one
account.

The plan would offer PHP,MySQL and a reasonable disk allocation (>100Mb).

Acceptable plans could ask for a small one-off/monthly fee per domain
- although no extra cost would be best. An acceptable answer would
include plans allowing at least 20 domains - although unlimited would
be best.

Hello Southof40

There are a large number of companies who should be able to comply
with your requirements and like all of these things a lot will come
down to your specific needs.

Over the years I have used a number of hosts including many big names
but judging from the information you have already supplied I would
recommend my current webhosts: http://www.allabouthosting.co.uk

I have been with them now for 2 years and in that time my sites have
never been down for longer than a couple of hours (at most). In the
last 3 months there have been no outages that I have noticed.

Although they have a UK domain name their servers are located in the
USA and I have always found them prompt (less than 12 hours, usually
within the hour) at fixing (not just answering) a problem.

With them I have 25+ domains hosted - some as you have suggested in
separate sub-directories and some as separate domains. I have their
cheapest reseller domain package allowing me to have full freedom over
how my domains are configured (and if I wanted I could sell this space
on). The disk space is generous and the limits on things like POP3
addresses more than adequate for my needs.

As I general rule I would also recommend that you do a Google Search
on each company that you think you would be interested in having host
your site as this will help you find how satisfied their customers
are. Remember also to search Google Groups and to try out your host
before committing yourself to any long term deal.

The links below show comparisons of different hosting companies that
have the features you require:

http://www.hostsearch.com/
http://www.hostindex.com/showcases/reseller/showcase.asp
http://www.tophosts.com/showcases/reseller/
http://www.hostreview.com/

I would recommend looking at a Linux/Cpanel/Reseller solution if possible.

Other than my current hosts I have not directly recommended anyone to
you since all my previous hosts have been poor and it is a rather
subjective choice as to which company is the best, a lot also comes
down to how much you wish to pay (I pay $40 a year but $40 a month
also isn't out of the question!). If you would like me to suggest
some other companies that may be of interest to you please ask for
clarification.

Unlimited domains from $3 a month. I am using them for some small
projects, with no problems to date (since Xmas).
